6 LDAP—A Directory Service

The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is a protocol designed to access and maintain information directories. LDAP can be used for user and group management, system configuration management, address management, and more.

6.1 OpenLDAP is deprecated

OpenLDAP is deprecated and unsupported in codestream 15, except for SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP0 and SP1 LTSS. OpenLDAP is replaced with 389 Directory Server in SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP2 and up. It is recommended to use the latest SUSE Linux Enterprise release for new 389 Directory Server deployments.

For more information about 389 Directory Server, see the upstream documentation, available at https://www.port389.org/docs/389ds/documentation.html.
