1 Introduction #
SUSE Multi-Linux Support is a technology and support solution for mixed Linux environments. With a SUSE Multi-Linux Support subscription, you can register and update Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS Linux. An optional High Availability extension is also available.
The following table shows which Linux distributions are supported by each subscription. These subscriptions also include an entitlement for a registration tool to manage package updates.

CentOS Stream is not supported.
Registering RHEL or CentOS Linux directly with the SUSE Customer Center is not currently supported.
This guide describes how to register with SUSE Multi-Linux Manager. SUSE Multi-Linux Manager is a lifecycle management system for mixed Linux environments. The SUSE Multi-Linux Manager Server is registered with the SUSE Customer Center, and other systems are registered as clients of SUSE Multi-Linux Manager and receive packages from it directly.
If SUSE Multi-Linux Manager is already set up and you only need to register your RHEL 8 or CentOS Linux 8 system, skip straight to Section 3, “Registering RHEL or CentOS Linux with SUSE Multi-Linux Manager”.
If you still need to set up SUSE Multi-Linux Manager, start with Section 2, “Deploying SUSE Multi-Linux Manager”.
SUSE Multi-Linux Support was previously named SUSE Liberty Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server with Expanded Support. During the transition period, some components might still use one of these names.
2 Deploying SUSE Multi-Linux Manager #
See the following guide to install SUSE Multi-Linux Manager: SUSE Multi-Linux Manager Installation and Upgrade Guide.
You can use most SUSE Multi-Linux Support subscriptions to register this machine. However, the Lite subscription only includes an entitlement for RMT, so if you want to use SUSE Multi-Linux Manager instead you will need a separate SUSE Multi-Linux Manager subscription.
To deploy SUSE Multi-Linux Manager in the public cloud, see SUSE Multi-Linux Manager Public Cloud Guide.
The SUSE Multi-Linux Support 8 repositories will grow over time because older package versions are not removed. Based on the current[1] size of the repositories, to meet the 1.5 times size recommendation you will need approximately 860 GB of disk space for the default repositories.
If you need the optional Source
and Debug
repositories, you will need an additional 1600 GB available.
3 Registering RHEL or CentOS Linux with SUSE Multi-Linux Manager #
See the following guide to register Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 or CentOS Linux 8 with SUSE Multi-Linux Manager: SUSE Multi-Linux Manager Client Configuration Guide: Registering SUSE Liberty Linux Clients.
CentOS Stream is not supported.
