To ensure that your environment meets the requirements of the cloud model you choose, see the check list in Chapter 2, Pre-Installation Checklist.
This checklist is focused on the Entry-scale KVM model but you can alter it to fit the example configuration you choose for your cloud.
This chapter will show how to install the Cloud Lifecycle Manager from scratch. It will run on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP3, include the HPE Helion OpenStack extension, and, optionally, the Subscription Management Tool (SMT) server.
One way to provide the repositories needed to set up the nodes in HPE Helion OpenStack is to install a Subscription Management Tool (SMT) server on the Cloud Lifecycle Manager server, and then mirror all repositories from SUSE Customer Center via this server. Installing an SMT server on the Cloud Lifecycle Manager server is optional. If your organization already provides an SMT server or a SUSE Manager server that can be accessed from the Cloud Lifecycle Manager server, skip this step.
Software repositories containing products, extensions, and the respective updates for all software need to be available to all nodes in HPE Helion OpenStack in order to complete the deployment. These can be managed manually, or they can be hosted on the Cloud Lifecycle Manager server. In this config…
