SUSE Virtualization v1.7.2 Release Notes

Hotfix required for rancher/harvester:v1.7.2

The rancher/harvester:v1.7.2 image is affected by a regression issue that prevents non-admin SUSE® Rancher Prime users from saving Kubernetes version changes and provisioning downstream clusters for SUSE Virtualization-backed RKE2 guest clusters.

To mitigate this issue, use the hotfix image rancher/harvester:v1.7.2-hotfix-11161. You can retag this image to overwrite rancher/harvester:v1.7.2.

  1. Pull and retag the image on each node.

    docker pull rancher/harvester:v1.7.2-hotfix-11161
docker tag rancher/harvester:v1.7.2-hotfix-11161 rancher/harvester:v1.7.2

  2. Restart the SUSE Virtualization deployment.

    kubectl rollout restart deployment/harvester -n harvester-system

Installation

SUSE Virtualization can be installed using the ISO image, a bootable USB drive, and PXE boot. For more information, see the Installation section of the documentation.

The installation process includes a mandatory step for configuring the login password for the default rancher user account.

Upgrades

SUSE Virtualization only allows upgrades from supported versions. For more information about upgrade paths and procedures, see Upgrades.

The upgrade path was improved to ensure bonded network interfaces (such as mgmt-bo) retain their correct names after a reboot. The upgrade script now reads the unique permanent hardware address of each bonded NIC, preventing interface name shifting and potential network outages during cluster upgrades.
